Through providing a multi-disciplinary, all encompassing range of support, Makaphutu Children's Village continues to promote the physical, mental and spiritual welfare of children - both those resident at Makaphutu and children living in the neighbouring communities of KwaNyuswa and Embo (Valley of a Thousand Hills).
The Makaphutu Children’s Village was founded many years ago and moved from one location to another. In 1995, a 20 hectare farm was purchased in the beautiful Valley of 1000 Hills.
Cottages were built to accommodate over 100 children. By appointing a housemother for each cottage the children are able to identify with one person who they can turn to for love, care and affection.
Their dietary requirements are supplied by well balanced meals ensuring adequate quality and quantity of food.
Education is ensured by our own Day Care Centre for the pre-school children where they are stimulated by a trained caregiver. The older children attend schools in the local community.
A games room and sports facilities provide fun and enjoyment. A library is being established and we hope to purchase computers in the near future.
